NEED TO KNOW

  • Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt shared a social media tribute to husband Chris Pratt for building their daughters a doll house
  • The author said that she isn't afraid to admit that she needs Pratt, whom she called a "golden retriever husband"
  • The post comes shortly after the mom of three praised Chris for his ability to bring humor to challenging times in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt is celebrating Chris Pratt for making a special gift for their daughters.

The author, 36, shared a sweet tribute to her “golden retriever” husband — with whom she shares children Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, and Ford, 1 —  on Instagram on Sunday, March 29. In text over a clip of Pratt, 46, sanding the exterior of a wooden toy house, Schwarzenegger Pratt said she isn’t afraid to admit she needs the Marvel star.

"I'll never understand when women say ‘I don't need my husband’ when I very much in fact do need my husband because who else would build our daughters a doll house?” wrote the mom of three.

Alongside the tribute, which she aptly set to “Man I Need” by Olivia Dean, Schwarzenegger Pratt wrote, “When you have a golden retriever husband >>>.”

The tribute comes weeks after the eldest child of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver praised the Guardians of the Galaxy actor — who is also a father to son Jack, 13, with ex-wife Anna Faris — for bringing laughter to their family when difficult situations arise.

"For a variety of reasons, I'm grateful that I married Chris. But one of them ... [is] being able to have someone who brings humor in challenging times," she told PEOPLE of the actor, whom she wed in June 2019. "Even when not funny, someone who can also make you laugh in a really hard time is really important. He definitely does that, so I'm really grateful for that.”

"I would say that he's definitely always really humor-filled,” Schwarzenegger Pratt said of the Parks and Recreation actor, 46, citing a recent instance when their household came down with the flu.

“Even when he's sick, he's making jokes that make a rough situation or a rough week have some lighthearted moments.”

Schwarzenegger Pratt also told PEOPLE that a large part of what makes her relationship with the actor work is "just knowing that we're teammates in so much of life, and especially in parenting, which has its ups and downs."

Pratt recently shared a bit of insight into his life as a parent alongside his author wife, revealing that their three kids have yet to see any movies.

While appearing on Today on March 17 to promote his latest role in Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the star revealed that his youngest three children are not movie watchers yet.

When asked if his kids think he's "cool" for starring in the animated flick, he revealed that Lyla, Eloise and the couple’s latest addition, Ford, “have never seen" a film. "Katherine is very old-school when it comes to screens and technology and all of that stuff," he explained. "So, we're waiting."

"There's gonna be a season, they're gonna realize their dad is really cool," Pratt then teased. "They haven't realized it yet, but one day."
