Shawn Johnson called out her husband Andrew East for a "crazy" decision he made when she was one week postpartum. 

The former gymnast, 34, and East appeared on the Thursday, July 2, episode of The Bossticks podcast, where they spoke about the rocky origins of their own podcast, Couple Things. 

Johnson said East launched the podcast by himself about a week after she gave birth to their first child in 2019. 

"I got pregnant with our first child, our daughter Drew, and seven days after I gave birth, he started the podcast. He launched it,” the mom of three said.

She said they never “talked about doing” the podcast before he made the bold move. 

“He came up with the name, he came up with a concept and he launched it. He sent it out on Apple Podcast and he's like, ‘We're starting a podcast.' I didn't really know about this,” the Olympic gold medalist said. 

The decision caused tension in the couple's relationship and “probably sent us into therapy," Johnson said.

“Mistakes were made,” East, also 34, admitted.

Johnson explained that the podcast, which had no episodes at the time, charted and they “had no choice but to do the thing.”

“I was so pissed, I was so mad,” she recalled. 

While Johnson wasn't thrilled about the “crazy” decision at the time, now “it's our favorite thing that we do now.” 

“We get to have actual, real conversations with people, which is really cool,” she said.

Johnson and East have been married since 2016. They share three kids: Drew, 6, Jett, 4, and Barrett, 2. In June, the couple told PEOPLE that they won't be having more kids.

"Our family, I think, feels very complete," Johnson said, and her husband agreed. 

"I love it so much," the former NFL player said of being a dad. "Having little kids is so fun, but I think we're done."

Johnson also shared that she struggled after her third child was born. 

"I think I went into it probably just way too confident because the first two had been easy. But I remember almost having an out-of-body experience, thinking this just feels way different than the first two. I don't know why. I think maybe a winter baby hit a little harder than I had expected,” she told PEOPLE.
