A teenage girl remains hospitalized after sustaining injuries while subway surfing in New York City.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a 16-year-old girl at the Broad Channel Station in Queens on Wednesday, July 22, around 3:12 p.m. local time, the NYPD and FDNY told PEOPLE.

Upon arrival, officers found the girl, whose identity has not been publicly released, “conscious and alert” on top of a southbound A train. The teen was transported by EMS to One Brooklyn Health Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she remains “in stable condition,” according to the NYPD.

The train was bound for Far Rockaway, New York Daily News reports.

After the incident, the MTA reportedly cut the power to the train car, while FDNY fire crews waited 10 minutes before being cleared to rescue the girl from atop the train car, according to PIX 11.

The incident comes just two months after another teen was left in critical condition, and another was killed, as a result of subway surfing in Brooklyn in May, PEOPLE previously reported.

The teens reportedly rode on the roof of the New York City subway’s J train as it crossed the Williamsburg Bridge into Manhattan, according to ABC News, which cited the NYPD.

The MTA continues to promote its “Ride Inside, Stay Alive” campaign against subway surfing, according to its official website, in conjunction with New York City Public Schools.
