The fan-favorite, special menu item comes breaded in a spicy tempura coating, and is mixed with aged cayenne and chili peppers to pack a powerful, but flavorful punch. As an added bonus, those who like it hot can add McDonald’s Mighty Hot Sauce to take their meal to the next level.
McDonald’s Mighty Hot Sauce is made with crushed red pepper, spicy chilies, savory garlic and a hint of sweetness.
McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets were first introduced to the world in 1983. Decades later, a new generation experienced the debut of Spicy Chicken McNuggets as the fiery feast has been on and off the menu since they arrived at McDonald’s in 2020 — along with the Chips Ahoy! McFlurry.
“If our customers truly can’t get enough, there’s always a chance we’ll bring limited-time menu items back in the future,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement after the Spicy Chicken McNuggets sold out two weeks after their debut.
Since then, McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McNuggets have appeared as an annual menu item in 2021, 2022 and in the fall of 2023.

In 2021, the company said the limited-time offerings “allow our restaurants to serve new menu items based on the latest industry trends while still maintaining a menu of fan-favorites for their customers.”
The hot item appeared only in select locations for a limited time in 2024: Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, New York, San Antonio, Memphis, Tenn.
