A popular frozen pasta sold at Walmart has been recalled, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

Gias Foods of New York recalled two lots of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine on Sept. 15 for potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to a company announcement published on the FDA website.

The bacteria “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to the announcement. “Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”

No illnesses stemming from consuming the frozen pasta have been reported to the FDA yet.

The recalled product is frozen, and comes packaged in a 22 oz., yellow plastic pouch. The packaging is marked with UPC# 194346442706, marked with lot # L6079C or # L6080C, and has an expiration date of Sept. 19 or Sept. 20, both stamped on the back, according to the Gias Foods announcement.

The products were sold nationwide at Walmart stores.

The potential contamination was discovered through a “routine sampling program conducted by Washington State Department of Agriculture and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services,” according to the announcement.

The company paused all distribution of the product while the agency continues to investigate the root cause of the outbreak.
