Showrunner Ian McCulloch called the series a "puzzle-box mystery, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a can’t-but-must look horror story"
Something mysterious is lurking behind the shadows in a small Georgia town.
In a new teaser for the all-new Peacock horror series Teacup, Yvonne Strahovski and Scott Speedman face some daunting threats as they fight to keep their family safe.
The brief teaser sets the stage for a mysterious danger on a ranch, where James (Speedman) and Maggie Chenoweth (Strahovski) and their children live. A gas mask-clad villain poses said threat, though it's unclear exactly what the family is facing as a series of intense but brief clips flash onscreen, showing a scared and high-strung cast.
The teaser concludes with a shot of Strahovski and Speedman's son Arlo (Caleb Dolden) as he lies on the ground with blood smeared on his face and a bloodied hand lands beside him.
Teacup follows a "disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive," according to the official logline.
The horror series is based on Robert McCammon's 1988 book, Stinger, but showrunner Ian McCulloch said that the show is "very much its own thing."
Describing the eight-episode series as a "puzzle-box mystery, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a can’t-but-must look horror story, a family drama, a science fiction epic," McCulloch said in a statement that Teacup is "standing on the shoulders" of the 1988 book's story.
Executive producer James Wan called it a "genre-bending blend of horror, mystery and drama with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle." He also praised the leading cast, Strahovski, Speedman and Chaske Spencer, as "incredibly talented."
Along with Strahovski, Speedman, Spencer and Dolden, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Emilie Bierre and Luciano Leroux also star.
